Jill at Feministe posted a great article from the Economist on the fight against Colombia's abortion laws. The Center for Reproductive Rights has filed an amicus in the Constitutional challenge. Human Rights Watch has thrown its hat in the ring too.
The Colombian abortion law is responsible for thousands of deaths, and goes as far as to imprison women for up to 5 years for having an abortion. It is a violation of a number of human rights treaties, which, under Colombian law, are superior to domestic law. It's a very interesting case. I'm doing a paper on it, so I'll post more as my research crystallizes.
